Transportation & parking

Unloading

There is a 20 minute unloading space available right outside Pelican and plenty of 40 min spaces nearby so you can unpack, drop off shopping, the family, then drive back up to a car park. This spot is quite rare as the village is ostensibly traffic free and of course fewer cars is one of the charms of Staithes.

Car parking for your stay

Car parking for you stay is available at Bank Top car park, Staithes Lane, Staithes, TS13 5AD is £6 for 24 hrs.Unfortunately they don’t do weekend or weekly passes and I presume you will have to pay to park daily. You can pay by coins, card or RingGo.  If you are visiting out of season it’s free (October to March).

Or you could book a place for your car at Glen Vale, a privately run car park at the top of the village. They charge £7 per vehicle per day but you do get a reserved place and CCTV monitoring. You will need to pre book ahead to secure a place. The website is www.parkingstaithes.co.uk

There is also Cowbar, our recommended car parking. Why? Not just because it’s free but because of the walk down the other side of the Beck to come in to the village via the top cliff and then the bridge, a nice breath of sea air and you are at the back door.

One of the charms of Staithes is that there’s very little traffic and restricting parking is one of the ways in which it’s kept a peaceful feel.
It’s not a problem though. There’s 20 min unloading spaces outside the house and plenty of 40 min spaces nearby so you can unpack, drop off shopping, kids etc and then drive back up to one of the car parks.
